DIMAPUR, MAY 19 (MExN): Even as most exit polls on May 19 favoured the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA alliance to win the recently held Lok Sabha elections, there was a tossup between the different polls as to what the outcome might be in Nagaland state.
As per the data available, there is no clear winner, though the Indian National Congress (INC) had a slight edge according to five survey results by accessed by The Morung Express.
The India Today-Axis My India Exit Poll, Times Now-VMR and NewsX-Neta Exit Poll have predicted wins for the INC’s candidate K L Chishi.
However, both the Republic TV-CVoter and IANS CVoter Exit Poll 2019 have forecasted the result in favour of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).
The sitting Member of Parliament and NDPP’s Tokheho Yepthomi was the consensus candidate of the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) in Nagaland, where the BJP is a partner.
The state’s specific results were not available for other exit polls, though most predicted big wins for BJP-led alliance in the North East.
The state went to poll on the first phase of the Lok Sabha Elections on April 11.
The other candidates in the four-way contest for the lone Lok Sabha Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency were Hayithung Tungoe from National People’s Party (NPP) and M.M Thromwa Konyak as an independent.
