Kohima, September 7 (MExN): District Agriculture Office Kohima organized a programme on distribution of power tiller and brush cutter under SMAM 2017-18 on September 7.
As stated in a DIPR report, the programme was chaired by SDAO Kohima, Kekhrieletuo Yhome. He highlighted the importance of farm machineries in cultivation and encouraged the beneficiaries present to extract maximum benefit from the machineries as well as to benefit other neighboring farmers.
Vizonyu Liezie, Joint Director & DAO Kohima also explained the benefits of using farm machineries in cultivation as it can immensely reduce man days and increase production rate. He asked the beneficiaries to use the machineries within the district and maintain the machines properly. He requested the beneficiaries to use the machineries accordingly and not to misuse them. Further he encouraged the beneficiaries to expand their fields and also to retrieve the abandoned fields.
One of the beneficiaries gave a brief report on his work and his great needs for power tiller, which the department has fulfilled. He promised to expand his field as well as to help other progressive farmers.
SDAO Chiephobozou, Seyievono also shared some success stories of previous beneficiary. She elaborated on Doubling of Farmers Income by 2022 and urged the farmers to fully utilize the benefit from the machineries. Altogether 27 farmers were benefited under different components from Kohima District.
