Farmers trained on plant protection, soil & water conservation

Tuensang, August 2 (MExN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tuensang conducted trainings under Soil and Water Conservation and Plant Protection division at Chang Khulei Setshang Hall, Tuensang on July 29 for farmers of Hakchang and Tuensang village (C-khel). 40 people participated in the training.  

Eliseni Tsopoe, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection), one of the resource persons, deliberated on the topic ‘Integrated Pest Management in Rice.’ She said blending appropriate pest control tactics like resistant/tolerant variety, suitable cultural practices, use of natural enemies, and judicious use of eco-friendly pesticides is an approach for managing the insect pest population in an economic and effective way.  

She also imparted how indigenous technical knowledge can be integrated along with other practices for management of the pests, a press release informed.  

Another resource person, Imtilemla, SMS (Soil Conservation) elaborated the different process of soil erosion taking place and different methods of soil and water conservation measures that can be taken up in the field to control erosion.  

Film shows on soil and water conservation on slopelands was also part of the programme.
