Farmers urged to increase organic agricultural productivity

Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar, IAS today urged the progressive farmers of Kohima district to increase their agricultural productivity in organic way. He encouraged the farmers that market channel will come up automatically as and when regular supply is evolved.  

He said this during an exhibition cum sales day organized by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Kohima at the Kohima Local Ground. He also gave away ATMA Kohima Farmers’ Award 2016 to ten progressive individual farmers and groups.  

Commissioner & secretary for agriculture and APC Imkonglemba, IAS also encouraged the farmers to be actively involved in the agricultural activities to boost the economy. He informed that the department is trying to develop Growers Association at the different level. Also assuring marketing linkages, he said “We want to contribute to GDP grow rate.”  

Kohima Deputy Commissioner & Chairman Governing Board (ATMA-Kohima), Rovilatuo Mor IAS said that the event was organized with the initiative of ATMA Kohima district to showcase the potential in the field of economy prosperity and to encourage the local products.  

He said the main aim and objective of the exhibition cum sales day was to provide a platform for the farmers to showcase various agricultural products of Agri and Allied departments and to exhibit and sell their products, to make the farmers’ aware of the outlets on various agricultural machinery, tools, implements, improve seed.  

He also highlighted the necessity for establishing more effective marketing and networking of local products and other logistic support from the government. Mor encouraged the farmers to take up farming seriously and excel in future to capture the vast market potentialities in general and of organic products in particular. He acknowledged the participation from institutional experts GIZ Firm and expressed hope that with their participation, the marketing networking would progress positively particularly in agri and allied sector in days to come.
