Farmers urged to be proactive

Dimapur, May 3 (MExN): ATMA Dhansiripar block organized Kisan Kalyan Karyashalas (Farmers Welfare Workshop) under the theme ‘Doubling of Farmers Income by 2022’on May 2 at Singrijan village along with all the states developmental blocks with Mhalo Humtsoe, SDO (Civil) Dhansiripar block as the special guest. The programme started off with inauguration of exhibition stall by the special invitee.


Mhalo Humtsoe, SDO (Civil) exhorted the farmers to be proactive and to incorporate the modern technologies into the farming system. She stressed on the importance of awareness about the different schemes and emphasized on maintenance of proper statistics of their produce so as to achieve their goals. She also encouraged the farmers to make use of the recently launched mobile app ‘Naga farm doctor’ by the Directorate of Agriculture so as to rescue them from crop related issues in a faster and easier way.


Officers from Agriculture, Land Resource, Soil conservation, Sericulture and Horticulture highlighted on the schemes and projects and how farmers can avail such schemes. This was followed by two-way communication between experts and farmers to evolve solution to the problems.


Chet Bahadur was awarded as the best progressive farmer (Organic Farming) who also shared his success story on paddy cultivation by adopting System of Rice Intensification (SRI).


The programme was attended by 50 farmers under Dhansiripar block, Agri & Allied departments and ATMA functionaries. Maize seeds and Dhaincha were also distributed to the farmers.
