Dimapur, May 10 (MExN): Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Dimapur, Chumukedima block organized Kisan Kalyan Karyashalas (Farmers Welfare Workshop) on May 2 at Naga United Village Council Hall. The workshop was held under the theme, ‘Doubling of farmers’ income by 2022’.
Thejavizo Nakhro, EAC, Chumukedima, who was the special guest, encouraged farmers to take up various activities on crop cultivation, horticulture cultivation, fisheries and animal rearing to generate and increase income. Stressing that farmers should practice organic production, he encouraged the farmers to avail various agriculture and allied schemes.
Janet Chishi, Deputy Project Director, ATMA Dimapur in her keynote address highlighted that the programme was initiated to create awareness on the strategies to be adopted for doubling the farmers’ income. Kedovino Lydia Meru (Floriculture) was also felicitated with Progressive Farmer Award.
The farmers were sensitized on various schemes and projects under Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Land resource, Sericulture, Soil and Water Conservation Department. Exhibition cum free vaccination of animals were other highlights. Around 50 farmers participated in the workshop.
