Fertility management campaign for dairy farmers

Zunheboto, September 27 (MExN): The Chief Veterinary Officer’s (CVO) office, Zunheboto conducted fertility management campaign for the dairy farmers of Aghunato, Zunheboto Town, and Sataka from September 15-19. It was sponsored by Nagaland Livestock Development Board (NLDB), Kohima under Government of India’s National Bovine Breeding Program (NBBP).  

Dr. Bocto Chishi, VAS, Veterinary Hospital, Zunheboto, who was the resource person, stressed on the importance of dairying and dairy farming. He also dwelled on how and what things are to be considered on traits during selection of heifer/cows, aspects on care and management of heifer, detection of estrus & A.I.  

Further, he highlighted various points on care during conception (gestation) period, parturition, calf and mother care. Balanced feeding, housing, and clean milk production were also touched upon during the campaign.  

A press release from CVO Zunheboto informed that shortly more such camps will be conducted for other blocks/ places in the district, where more dairy farmers can avail technical knowledge. Thanking all the farmer participants for their keen interest and participation during discussions, he encouraged them to make the best use of the acquired knowledge as their best tool to uplift their own family’s economy.
