•- We are all merely players and in his time plays many parts, we came across different views, opinions in the local dailies about different kind of festivals but the question is do we really obey God’s commandment when we celebrate like the Hornbill festival, Christmas? Is it against the Biblical doctrine? Does God agree with this enjoyable festival in Christian Society? Hornbill festival is the greatest of all in the North Eastern region and the state is organizing every year from 1st to 7th Dec. in collaboration with Tribal hoho’s and the department. Any festivals which are not coincided with the Bible is a sin offering. False gospel and manmade doctrine outside the Bible are supported by unbelievers in Christian society, because he got something/enjoyment in return so that he supported the festivals. Superstitious is in human mind. According to true believers superstitious has no room in his Heart. If anyone who is still influence of culture, tradition, customs they cannot be called a true believers.
Let me recalled the Chakhesang cultural attire. A prostitute woman prepared for the male costumes, ornaments and traditional dressed from one village to another at a sojourn with her opposite sex in search of her prey. Her intention was to be the guest of rich family’s son for prostitute. After one or two week she migrated to next village and do the same ornaments and cultural dressed in return to her opposite sex after the prostitution is over and left. This is purely an old true story, but the costumes ornament are still used today when festival comes which is totally unwanted in Christian era. We find many churches supported this culture. Sometime we find the church with horn (Horn house) in the olden days Horn house was built by person who offered several feast days with plenty of meat and wine to villagers, such person can build their horn House, now the church became horn house in some places. Surely this teaches that the social-political gospel has nothing to do with the Gospel of salvation. If I discover that the doctrine of my Church teacher is not faithful to God’s word, do I tremble in fear? Absolutely Yes! We must remember that any doctrine we hold that is not faithful to the Bible is wrath. It is something developed by manmade gospel. Practicing of this old culture are not born again but if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; Old things have passed away” behold all things have become new.
In the Old Testament time there were some ceremonial feast days which were to be observed by Old Testament Israel. God instituted with important aspects of Gods salvation program (a) The Passover the 14th day of the first month. (b) The feast of Pentecost. It is called the feast of harvest 50 days after the seventh day of Sabbath. This was the day of the first fruit of the harvest were to be brought into. On that very same day May 22 A.D. 33 the Holy Spirit was poured out and the church age officially began. (c) The first day of seventh month was a special feast day that theologian incorrectly called the feast of trumpets. It should be the feast of jubilee. On that day it was the “SHOPHAR” (Ram’s Horn) was to be blown and to be sounded of the jubilee year. (d) The tenth day of the seventh month was called the Day of Atonement. (f) The 15th to 22nd day of the seventh month was the feast of tabernacles which was at the same time as the feast of ingathering. Also burnt offering, blood sacrifices, circumcision etc. These are few examples that during the Old Testament time was to be observed.
These ceremonial laws are no more observed during the New Testament era and replaced by new ceremonial law such as water Baptism, lord’s table, Sunday Sabbath, name entry in the church registered etc. these ceremonial laws are not guarantee for salvation, it is only an outer sign. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction and there are many who go in by it, because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life and there are few who find it. Many are called but few are chosen. Riches do not profit in the day of wrath but righteousness delivers from death, you cannot serve God and mammon’s True believers will feast with the Bible but unbelievers will feast with alcohol, new dress, enjoyment…. A true Christian will build his house on the rock whereas unbelievers are build their house on the sand. If you and I are want to change the society change our self, then the world will change. there is nothing permanent accept “change “the only reason people want to be the master of the future is to “change” very very sad, Death is the greatest leveler of mankind. We must be deeply concerned about our personal salvation because we have no guarantee that we will be alive tomorrow. IS THERE HOPE FOR ME? Indeed there is great hope for you. Be prepared yourself, tomorrow success begins today,
These are challenges faced by every person with sixty second, minute… worth of distance run. When you’ve got something to repent there is nothing greater than a challenge. Do not pray for easier live, pray for powers equal to your tasks, then the thing of your work will be no miracle, but you will be miracle. Yours is the earth and everything that’s in it to make you one step forward, if you obey my commandment you‘ll be a man, my son.
