FICC on communication studies in theological edu

Dimapur, February 11 (MExN): The first meeting of the Forum for Indian Christian Communicators (FICC) - North Eastern Chapter was held at the Clark Theological College, Mokokchung on February 5 co-inciding the Senate of Serampore College (University) Convocation.
Welcoming the members, Rev. Dr. Kavit, the principal of Trinity Theological College, Dimapur expressed the urgency and relevance of such a forum to revamp the importance of communication studies in theological education and therefore thanked the Rev. Dr. Samuel Meshack, the principal of Gurukul Lutheran Theological College and Research Institute, Chennai, for the initiative taken, stated a press note.
It stated that while introducing the formation of FICC, Dr. Meshack, who is also the Chairman of the World Association for Christian Communication- Asian Region, highlighted three main objectives of the forum. The objectives are networking and sharing of resources, experiences among the communicators, both within and outside of the country, to critically and consciously look into the communication curriculum use in the theological colleges and to make it more acceptable to both communication as a discipline, it’s relevancy to theological education and to publish resources to be used in colleges, seminars and workshops and in Church ministry.
In his concluding remark, Dr. L. Imsutoshi Jamir, professor of Communication and Media Studies at the Eastern Theological College, Jorhat expressed the need of communication to go beyond the border of theological education and church ministry and challenged the members to involve sincerely and with passion in the ministry of communication.  He also expressed the need to work side by side with other governmental and non-governmental organizations and ministries and also pointed out the areas of possibility for collaboration, the note said.
The meeting began with prayer led by Rev. Dr. Temjen Jamir, Dean of Post Graduate Studies at the Clark Theological College and concluded with mass spoken prayer.
