Floriculture workshop held at Sao Chang College

Tuensang, December 4 (MExN): The Sao Chang Govt College, Tuensang in collaboration with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Tuensang organized a three day workshop on Floriculture at the college from November 21 to 23.  

The workshop was organized under the initiatives of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) committee of the college which is funded by RUSA GoI, MHRD.  

Resource person Dr. Shisarenla Aier, SMS (Horticulture) KVK Tuensang, taught the floriculture students about the importance of floriculture in Nagaland with special reference to Tuensang district as a potential place for cultivation of various flower species.  

Topics covered during the three day event included “Protected cultivation technology in flower”, “Fresh flower arrangements – its principles and designs”, and “Advancement in dry flower production technology”. A group competition on flower arrangements was also held on the second day.  

The resource person also spoke on topics such as establishing and operating green house and methods of maintaining flower garden. On the concluding day, certificate of participation and prizes were distributed to the winners of the fresh flower arrangements.
