Forest Department launches Clean Environment Drive

Kohima, June 25 (MExN): Clean Environment Drive programme was organized by Department of Environment Forests and Climate Change, Kohima Forest Division under the Green Initiative Program on June 25 at Range Office Kohima. 

The programme was officially launched by PCCF Nagaland, Rajat S. Pal IFS by distributing eco friendly waste bins to the villagers. PCCF Nagaland addressed the gathering to make full use of the community assets provided keeping in mind the mandate of the programme.

DFO Kohima Rongsenlemla Imchen highlighted on the importance of the responsibility of the community in keeping a clean environment and to maintain the plantations judiciously in the villages as it provides tangible and intangible ecological benefits. It is pertinent to mention that the Green Initiative Program was started in the year 2017 under Kohima Forest Division wherein schools were engaged in raising nurseries and plantation and also provided necessary support to SHGs to supplement their livelihood. For the current year, Clean Environment Drive was included in the program in which Eco Friendly waste bins were distributed to villages.
