Forest Dept outreach campaign for Noksen community

Tuensang, June 13 (MExN): An awareness campaign was organized by the Nagaland Forest Department at Community Hall of Noksen village, Tuensang District on June 12 for conservation of Nature, Forest and Wildlife for communities and schools of the locality of Noksen Community Reserve.

Chief Wildlife Warden Nagaland, Satya Prakash Tripathi in his key note address, highlighted the importance of forest and wildlife by stating that all three basic needs of one’s life namely Roti, Kapda and Makan are met from forests.

Forests also address the issue of climate change, global warming, carbon sequestration, food/ water/ ecological security of our country, he stated, adding that importance of forest and wildlife will not reduce at any interval of time.

Tripathi appealed to the participants for inculcating habit of forest and wildlife conservation in their mind and act as the brand ambassador of the Forest Department in spreading the message of nature conservation.

The campaign saw participation of around 300 persons; 250 students from Noksen Village of different age/class, 50 persons from Noksen Village Community namely the Chairmen/members of the Village Council, GBs, DBs, teachers etc, informed a press release from the Chief Wildlife Warden Nagaland.

The programme was financially sponsored under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Community Reserve of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate, Change, Government of India, New Delhi.

Chairman, Noksen Village Council chaired the programme and welcomed the participants on behalf of Noksen Village. 

The release added interactions were held among the participants, while nature conservation quotes were read in “English and Chang dialect.” The participants were asked to follow nature conservation quotes in their life and spread it. Vote of thanks was proposed by Serili Sangtam, Forest Range Officer, Longkhim.
