90th friendship treaty anniversary of Lhisemia khel and 7 villages of Sopfüma celeberated

The 90th friendship treaty anniversary of Lhisemia khel (Kohima village) and seven villages of Sopfüma (Mao) was observed at Chielatsiepfhe L. Khel Kohima village on April 27 with Pheluopfhelie Kesiezie and Kaisü Adani Choro as speakers.  

Pheluopfhelie Kesiezie in his address said even though our forefathers have lived at a time when they worshipped idols, they understood the value of establishing a bond of friendship and brotherhood to foster love, respect, trust and better understanding among us. Kesiezie said with the embracing of Christianity in our society, our belief and faith is little different from the past and forefathers.  

Quoting Philippians 2:3-4, he said, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves and let each of you look not only to his own interest, but also to the interest of others.” We must bless each other on these lines, he added.  

He reminded that we have 90 years of friendship and would celebrate centenary soon, and urged to continue upholding this treaty with conviction and strengthen our friendship in years to come.  

Kaisü Adani Choro said, “Our forefathers did the friendship treaty for better relationship and our young generations should follow up and maintain its sanctity.” He said that according to our forefathers, the friendship or peace treaty based on strong vowed not to harm or have war on each other and whoever break the rules face severe curse from God. He reminded the gathering that peace or friendship treaty is the bridge to build good relationship between the two different parties.  

Choro opined that the friendship treaty would produce positive result even in the years to come. He expressed happiness that till date nobody from both the parties have violated the friendship treaty and urged the gathering to maintain it in future too.  

The occasion witnessed exchange of facts document between L. Khel and 7 villages of Sopfüma and also people who are 90 years and above were presented with special gifts.  

Convenor Core Committee, Tseivilie Miachieo chaired the programme. Welcome address was delivered by Lhisemia Council Chairman, Kekhriesetuo Kelio while folk songs were presented by Lhisemia group and Ebvemei. A. Ashohrü proposed the vote of thanks.
