People availing free heart screening camp held at Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima on June 12.

A free heart screening camp organised by the National Health Mission, Nagaland in collaboration with Sky Hospital & Research Centre, Imphal was held today at Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima. Patients from various districts of the state availed free heart screening in the camp.
Dr. Khriesi, Nodal Officer, Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) said that RBSK is a child health screening and early intervention services programme to provide comprehensive care to all the children between the age of 0-18 years in the community.
The objective is to improve quality of life of children through early detection of birth defects, diseases, deficiencies, developmental delays and disabilities, he said.
He also informed that all children between the age group of 0-18 years diagnosed would receive follow-up referral support and treatment including surgical intervention free of cost as per RBSK modal costing.
He pointed out that congenital heart disease has a prevalence rate of 0/1000 live birth which means Nagaland is expected to have about 250 cases.
T Rajiv Singh, IT Manager, SKY Hospital & Research Centre Pvt. Ltd, Imphal said Sky Hospital has empanelled with the Nagaland government and RBSK. With this, he said Sky hospital will give free heart check-up to children below the age of 18 years. Patients with congenital heart disease will be treated at Sky hospital, Imphal.
