Free region movement between GoI & Government of Myanmar

Deputy chief minister & minister in-charge of home Y Patton today informed the House that under the Free Movement Regime (FMR), the state government has issued notification on 14-9-2017 empowering seven administrative officers in four districts of Nagaland having international border with the Union of Myanmar as the authorities to issue permits in the prescribed form to every member of the hill tribes, who is a citizen of India and who is ordinarily resident of any area within 16 km in Indian side.

He replied this to MLA Yitachu in starred question.

On being asked of initiatives taken by the state government to facilitate the peoples living on the Indo-Myanmar border, Patton replied that under Boarder Area Development Programme (BADP), developmental activities like infrastructure, education, health, agri & allied, specific/special area schemes (model village, need base etc) and capacity building/skill development are being taken up along the Indo-Myanmar border.

BADO schemes cover 245 BADP villages in 13 blocks of four districts such as Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire and Phek.
