GHS Kandinu conducts annual sports meet

DIMAPUR, APRIL 1 (MExN): A three day annual sports Meet 2017 was organized from March 28 to 30 at Government High School Kandinu ground. The occasion was graced by the AHM (Govt. High school, Kandinu), Yhunlonyu Tep as the chief guest.  

Marking the commencement of the event, the flag of GHSK was unfurled by the chief guest. He was welcomed by a march past drill motioned by the student contingents.  

The chief guest in his address stressed that education was not only reading and writing, but it is an all round development and that sports is an integral part of education. He maintained that under co-curricular activities, through sports, one can well equip in discipline, character, behaviour, punctuality, leadership qualities etc in their school days and compete in the area, district, state, national and international levels. He further expressed hope that the three days sports meet will be fruitful and wished all the students the best of luck.  

Nitilo Kath invoked God's blessings, followed by a welcome address from Khikeya Kez. A song was presented by Caroline Tep and friends after which the oath taking ceremony was held led by Nikeya Kath. Vote of thanks was given Amos Tep. The students were divided into two houses, Red and Yellow respectively. Altogether 16 varieties of events were organized. A football and volleyball exhibition match was also played between the teachers and students.The closing ceremony program was led by Amos. Prizes were handed out to the winners by the chief guest, Kenneth Kath, President, RSZ. In his brief address, he encouraged the students to strive for excellence not only in sports but in all other disciplines. It was followed by lowering down of the flag by the chief guest after which a closing prayer was pronounced by Kathu Kath.
