Phek, June 14 (MExN): World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) was held at District Hospital Phek on June 14 with the theme “What can you do? Give blood. Give now. Give often.”
Addressing the gathering, the guest speaker Dr. Limanukshi, Junior Specialist DH, Phek said the event serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank the blood donor for their voluntary life saving gifts of blood. It also aims in encouraging all the people to strengthen the emergency preparedness of health services in their community by donating blood. He urges the participants to contribute by donating the blood in times needs and be prepared for any eventuality and emergency such natural and man-made disaster. He also shares the basics fact, components, myth and misconception about blood donation. This was followed by interactional session
Earlier the program was chaired by Kuduvo Kezo DPO, DAPCU. IEC materials were also displayed and distributed to the participants. Various officials including health staffs and NGOs attended the program to mark the day.
