The 11th Anniversary of Lemsachenlok and launching of Go Green Initiative Project was held today in collaboration with Tata Motors Limited, at Chang Awa, Yaongyimchen Village with Ravindra kumar GP, Chief Human Resources Officer, Tata Motors Limited as chief guest.
Kumar, in his speech congratulated the Lemsachenlok team led by Dr Y Nuklu Phom for their continuous efforts towards community conservation and other social welfare activities. He said Tata Motors Limited does not only thrive for commercial organization, but has more concerns for environmental related and social issues. With the introduction of Go Green Initiative Project, the program will lead to plantation of ten lakh trees of 25 (twenty five) local species within a span of 2 (two) to 3 (three) years, which can in-turn generate income for the local people and improve their economy.
Speaking on the 10 years conservation milestone of Amur Falcon, Dr Suresh Kumar, Indian Forest Service (IFS), Senior Scientist, Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun expressed his experiences with the Lemsachenlok team and the process of conserving Amur Falcon in Nagaland.
Talking about Amur falcons, he said that the credit goes to all the people of Nagaland for sacrificing and highlighting the importance of protecting these birds to other neighbouring states as well. He added that conservation of Amur falcons in Nagaland is one of the greatest success stories in the entire world, where hunters have become protectors. He said biodiversity is deep rooted in Naga culture, as elders in the morung teach the younger generations about the importance of conserving biodiversity.
During the program, the invitees were greeted by S. Nungdang, Village Council Member (VCM), Yaongyimchen Village, and salutation was done by Dr Y Nuklu Phom, Team Leader, Lemsachenlok. Solidarity messages were delivered by Temsumoa, Village Council Chairman (VCC), Chuchuyimpang Village and Sangpa, Village Council Chairman (VCC), Yangpi Village. Dr Temsu, Principal, Yingli College, Longleng and P Tiatemsu, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung spoke on the topic, "Augmenting Research Camaraderie" while Chepe-ü Koza, Range Officer, Longleng Forest Division and Dr Samuel Konyak, EAC, Longleng spoke on the topic, "A common concern towards mitigating biodiversity loss." A short speech was delivered by Ranvir Knowar, Zonal Manager, Eastern Region, Kolkatta.
Special program by the Golden Agers of Yaongyimchen Village called Cultural Chain and Valuing Tradition by the cultural team of Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung were the main highlights of the day.
Earlier, Kumar also inaugurated and launched the Community Watch Tower at Sanglu Village, Community Bridge at Lomching Village and Go Green Initiative Project Nursery at Lomching Village. Later, during the formal program, he inaugurated the Go Green Initiative Project and Seed Bank and Exchange Axis at Yaongyimchen Village.
