Government High School in Namching attain 50 years

Longleng, November 9 (DIPR): The Government High School, Namching celebrated golden jubilee on November 8 with Advisor DUDA & NEPED, S. Pangnyu Phom as the chief guest.  

Speaking on the occasion, Pangnyu informed that he was happy to grace two important remarkable occasion of the School as the chief guest during upgradation programme from GMS to GHS on November 30, 2010 and Golden Jubilee celebration of the School. He announced that the proposal for construction of National Highways from Mokokchung district via Mongtikang, Namching, Pongo & Longphang to Mon and Tuensang district was approved by the Cabinet under his initiatives. He asserted that this highway would benefit not only the people of Phoms but also the Konyaks and the Changs. He further urged upon the people to maintain cordial relationship among the Phom community and other neighbouring tribes to promote good connectivity and development in the region.  

SDO Civil Longleng, D. Robin, in his exhortation saluted the pioneers for their noble service of bringing the education to the people at their door step. He asserted that although our pioneer may not be highly educated but they have wisdom and knowledge to guide and lead us in the right directions and they deserved to be respected and honored while celebrating the Jubilee. Therefore, he urged the teachers and the school authority to transform the dreams and visions of the pioneer into reality through their hard work and dedication.  

DEO Longleng in his short exhortation appealed to the head master, School authority and the VEC to take full ownership of the School and play a vital role for upliftment of the School. He pointed out that Government Schools no longer belong to the Government but to the respective community under the Village Education Committee (VEC), and the destiny of the school depends on the service provided by the VEC and the community along with the board of management.  

Briefing on the duties and responsibilities of the Head Master the DEO said the head master should act like the recording and reporting officer of the School. He must understand the detail history of the School to monitor and control the functioning of the School. He asserted that failure to maintain proper reporting and recording would invite shortage of teachers and encroachment of School land besides other issues leading to pathetic condition of the school and its students.  

Earlier, short speeches were delivered by the pioneers of the school K. Apisungba Rtd. PA to DC; Shokleu GB; N. Namlei Ex-GB and Angteng Head GB while invocation and welcome address was done by Y. Atang Pastor PBC and Hadok Phom Chairman Jubilee Planning Board. Vote of thanks was proposed by the head master N. Shauhong Phom.  

Special numbers by the Students and teaching staffs, unveiling of jubilee monolith & release of Souvenir by the chief guest and felicitation to the Pioneer & dignitaries were the highlights of the programme.
