Governor and CM in Delhi to urge against imposition of PR

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 16 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang, along with Nagaland Governor PB Acharya arrived in New Delhi late this evening to appraise the centre about the prevailing condition in the state and to insist with the centre not to impose central rule in Nagaland.

A press note from the CMO informed that the Chief Minister and the Governor are in the national capital to impress upon the central leadership, considering the political developments in the last 24 hours, rather than remaining in the State, “since they are more alarmed with the likelihood of imposition of President’s Rule by the Centre which will not solve the social unrest that the State is going through right now.”

As a result of the sudden trip, the proposed meeting of the political party leaders scheduled to be held Thursday at 4:00 pm at Raj Bhavan has been cancelled. The meeting had been called by the Governor.

A press statement received from PRO to Governor said the Governor left to meet the Union Home Minister to “help solve the political impasse.”

The Governor claimed that he had time to time briefed the central government authorities about the seriousness of the ongoing situation in the State. He hoped that the present political impasse would be solved amicably at the earliest.
