Kohima, January 15 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya has extended greetings to the Chakhesang community on the occasion of Sükrünye festival. He called on the Chakhesangs to continue safeguarding and promoting their rich culture and traditions through the festival and come together and rededicate oneself to make the atmosphere conducive in towns and villages for peaceful co-existence and for all round development in the State. “May the festival of Sükrünye bring peace, unity and prosperity to the Chakhesangs in particular and Nagas in general,” Acharya wished in a message. He further noted that the festival is celebrated by the young and old with an array of cultural activities through dance, song, food, traditional games and thanksgiving to the deities to seek good fortune and blessing.
