Kohima, November 13 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has extended greetings to the Sumi community on the occasion of Ahuna 2017, a post harvest festival signifying the celebration of the season’s harvest in thanksgiving. He called on the Sumi community to thank the Almighty for his unwavering love and blessings.
The Governor also reminded all to thank the farmers for their hard work. He said the Central and State Governments have welfare projects for the farmers, including soil testing, Kisan credit card, National Food Security Mission etc, to help in production and productivity and it should be our responsibility to make these welfare projects made known to them.
Governor Acharya also called on the Sumis to continue safeguarding and promoting their rich culture and traditions through the festival and come together and rededicate oneself to make the atmosphere conducive in towns and villages for peaceful co-existence and for all round development in the State.
“May the festival of Ahuna bring peace, unity and prosperity to the Sumis in particular and Nagas in general,” the Governor wished.
