Kohima, January 19 (MExN): Flag-in of National Integration Tour (NIT) and interaction with NIT students and Youth Exchange Program (YEP) NCC cadets were held at the Raj Bhavan, Kohima, on January 17.


The Governor of Nagaland, RN Ravi interacted with the students after the tour, which began on December 31 and ended on January 17. The NIT is organized by Assam Rifles every year at various places in India, said Deputy Comdt KS Thakur.


The tour is mainly for underprivileged students, to encourage them to learn more through visits of places with historical, scientific and cultural background. He also mentioned that it was to motivate the youth and to provide leadership in all walks of life and to be always available for the service of the nation.


As per DIPR report, the tour was considered with the aim to give exposure to young girls for their development and progress in metropolitan cities like Bangalore and Chennai. Apart from this, many activities are carried out by the NCC every year, like institutional training, camps, national level events, adventure activities and YEP with other nations of the world.


This year, NCC group of Kohima, on behalf of NCC Directorate North East Region sent three NCC cadets: Vinole Keso of 1 Nagaland Girls Bn NCC from St Joseph College Zakhama to Singapore, Deepak Das of 1 Nagaland Air Squadron NCC of Kohima Science College to Kazakhstan, and Karipong of 24 Nagaland (I) Coy NCC from St Joseph College Kohima to Sri Lanka. The programme was organized by 40 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 15 Sect, Assam Rifles HQ IGAR (North).
