Governor, Speaker mourn Kiyelho Sema’s demise

Kohima, November 21 (MExN): Nagaland Governor PB Acharya and Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Dr. Imtiwapang Aier have mourned the demise of Kiyelho Sema, former Member of NLA.  

Late Kiyelho passed away on November 21 at Eden Hospital, Dimapur after prolonged illness. He is survived by his wife, four sons and four daughters. He was 81.  

Late Kiyelho was elected Member of the First Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 1964 from Pughoboto A/C.  

Dr. Aier in a message remembered late Kiyelho as a social worker who dedicated his life for the welfare of the Naga people. “In his death, the State has lost a committed leader in general and for the Sema tribe in particular,” Dr. Aier’s message read and on behalf of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly conveyed heartfelt condolences.  

Governor Acharya in a separate message also conveyed condolences and stated that late Kiyelho’s contribution as a public leader in various positions will be ever remembered.  

Vikheho Swu

MLA Vikheho Swu, the elected representative of Pughoboto – the constituency from which late Kiyelho was elected – in a condolence message recalled late Kiyelho’s contribution in various capacities throughout his lifetime. “He was a National Worker, an educationist, a social worker and a pioneer politician from Pughoboto,” Swu stated. “I want to thank him for his leadership, his devotion and services rendered to our society; I believe that his leadership not only inspired the Sumis but the entire Nagas,” he added.  

Jacob Zhimomi

MLA Jacob Zhimomi described late Kiyelho as a man of “strong principle and determination” who dedicatedly served the Naga people in numerous capacity. “His selfless contribution towards the uplift of Naga society over a number of decades would always be remembered and cherished,” Zhimomi’s message read.
