Phek, November 5 (MExN): The new school building-cum-kitchen of Government Middle School Leshemi under Phek district was inaugurated on November 3 by Mese Kapfo, SDEO Pfutsero. The construction was done under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).
Kapfo in his speech encouraged the community to give more importance to the students. The school being amongst those with highest enrolment in elementary section under SDEO Pfutsero, he urged the community and parents to give more attention to the school, so that it can become a model for other schools.
“There should be a close relationship between the community and the teaching staff. The community should play a ‘contributive role’ for the fullest development of the child,” he stated, according to a press release.
The SDEO encouraged parents to send their children to government schools where education is provided free of cost with qualified teachers. Parents should give more time towards their children’s education, he added.
Meanwhile, he stated that Village Education Committee (VEC) members and parents should visit school often to see the developments of their children and if needed, take necessary steps for the fullest development of the children.
He further requested teachers to be more sincere and dedicated. Stating that teachers play most definitive role in the life of a person – that of shaping his/her destiny, the SDEO said teachers should consider teaching as a gift and be interested in their profession.
