Graduates graduate with grand recital at GCTC

Dimapur, June 15 (MExN): The students of Golden Crown Theological College’s completed their one month intensive short term music course with a recital entitled, "JUNE RECITAL 2016" at the College Campus on June 14. 36 students graduated this year. A press report for the college informed that the students recited 6 choral pieces; each song was conducted by various selected students, as part of their learning requirement.  

The students also gave displayed their solfeggio expertise, an exercise in singing using - 6-tone scale sol-fa syllables. Bonus performances were also presented by Oreno and Thungyani and instructors.  

Earlier, it started with an opening prayer by Jemima Assumi, a GCTC lecturer and followed by students’ testimonies by Thsachola and Fuchumlo. Certificates and awards were presented to the students and it ended with vote of thanks and prayer from Avoni Odyuo, Music Director GCTC.  

Intensive Short Term Music Course offered by GCTC is held annually during its summer semester break from May 15 to June 15 and specifically designed for Church workers, Music Ministers, Youth Directors, Choir Directors, and music lovers. 

A person without any prior music education can join the course and by the end of the course s/he will be able to read music, staff notation, sing and conduct, the GCTC press note maintained.

The classes are conducted 5 hours daily, from Monday to Friday. Students are trained on Basic Music Theory, Tonal and Solffeggio studies; Sight-singing; Basic Conducting; Basic Vocal development; and Choral Singing.  

Students from Nepal, Arunachal, Tripura, Ao Baptist Church, Mon Baptist Church, Kohima Lotha Baptist Church choir members, bible colleges around Nagaland, and other churches and ministries participated in the program this year.  

The course instructors were Rev Dr. Nzan Odyuo, Noel De la Rosa, Avoni Odyuo, Mharhomo Kithan, Albert Odyuo, and Vanbeni Humtsoe.
