Haemorrhagic Septicaemia (HS) is one of the major contagious and infectious diseases of cattle and buffaloes .Infection is caused by Pasteurella  multocida  and it occurs through inhalation or ingestion by  the animal. Some factors responsible for causing the disease are moist and high humid weather condition, high animal population density in a particular area with extensive free grazing system where they graze freely in common pastures and  are commonly housed together at night.

Some common signs and symptoms of Haemorrhagic Septicaemia (HS) are:

1.  High rise in body temperature

2.  Respiratory distress with frothing nasal discharge

3. Salivation and eye discharge

3.  Subcutaneous oedematous swelling from mandible to brisket region along with swollen   lymph  nodes

4.  In the later stages of the disease the animal is unable to stand up

Some steps for prevention and control of Haemorrhagic Septicaemia (HS) are:

1. Immediately isolation of any sick/diseased animal from the rest of the herd

2. Timely vaccination with Haemorrhagic Septicaemia vaccine yearly and follow regular deworming schedules

3. Discharge or any secretion from infected diseased animal to be disposed off properly.

Immediately consult a Veterinarian if your animal in the farm are showing any of the above signs and symptoms because early detection and treatment help the farmers a lot of inconvenience and economic loss.
