Health Minister, LFA endorses fight against HIV/AIDS

Kohima, August 5 (DIPR): Leading from the front in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Nagaland, Minister for Health & Family Welfare Nagaland, Kuzholuzo Nienu has volunteered to sponsor the prize money for the State level Multi-Media Campaign (MMC) music event while Legislature Forum on AIDS (LFA) has offered to sponsor the prize money of all the districts level music event competition.
A meeting of the State Core Committee Members and Advisors (Minister for H&FW Kuzholuzo and MLA & Chairman MTF Dr. Nicky Kire) for MMC was convened on August 5, the IDST Conference Hall, Directorate and Health & Family Welfare, with regard to the MMC campaign 2011-12 which is to be officially launched on August 12 at the Heritage Complex Kohima.
In the meeting, Azo Nienu specifically stressed on the involvement of the Chief Medical Officers of all the districts at the MMC and reminded them to take it as part of their job. The Minister also suggested that programmes relating to HIV/AIDS and interaction on health issues needs to be telecast at DDK Kohima at least one hour in a week for the benefit of the public. Azo also agreed to the suggestion put up by one of the core committee member for targeting schools and colleges to create awareness on HIV/AIDS and said that LFA have to think about targeting these areas.
Commissioner & Secretary Health & Family Welfare Menukhol John who presided over the meeting apprised the Advisors and the Core Committed Members on the proposed plan for rolling out the MMC 2011-12. Menukhol informed that besides the music event MMC campaign would also focus on awareness through sports, festival, interpersonal communication (IPC) with tribal women organization, and the key areas of involvement by Core Committee Members and also highlighted on the key stakeholders/partners both in the State and District level.
