Healthy Lifestyle Camp held at Athibung

Peren, December 3 (MExN): A one day seminar cum inaugural programme on Healthy Lifestyle Camp under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke (NPCDCS) was held at Athibung PHC, Peren District on December 2.  

The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Ngangshimeren, CMO. The program was attended by the GB’s, ward chairman, Church Pastors under Athibung Town, Women Leaders HCMC members, community leaders, District Medical Program Officers, Medical officers and staff of Chief Medical Office, Peren and Athibung PHC and the public of Athibung Block.  

Addressing the introductory note Dr. Ngangshimeren, CMO said that the main aim of the Healthy Lifestyle Camp is to give health talks and then follow up on the diseases that are being talked about especially about the lifestyle.  

Speaking on the seminar, Dr. Thangmang, Medical Specialist, Athibung PHC gave a health talk and highlighted about what is Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiovascular disease and Cancer. He explained the types, the symptoms, complications, the risk factors and its treatment and for prevention and early diagnosis.  

A total of 121 patients were screened and examined out of which 19 persons were diagnosed with diabetes and 40 hypertension cases, 26 were overweight and 6 were obese. Apart from free health checkups, distribution of free medicines, sensitization of public in the form of one to one by the IEC Personnel was also conducted and also IEC materials on cancer, diabetes, hypertension and cardio vascular diseases was also distributed.
