It’s a great concern and needs an urgent intervention to prevent the complications of HCV-related liver disease  including fibrosis, cirrhosis, cancer, liver transplant and death, a press note from the foundation director Abou Mere said.

Called for giving treatment to all persons with HCV infection, it maintained that no one should die with a treatable or curable disease or get infection from a disease which is preventable due to unaffordability.

It also appealed that the Government of Nagaland to adopt “Test and Treat Policy” for its employees and the Key Populations. “Test and Treat” with direct-acting antiviral (DAA) will be cost effective than treating (reimbursement) for hepatitis (liver cancer or liver transplant), will save life and financial resources, and help in elimination viral hepatitis in Nagaland, it added.
