‘HIV prevalence in Nagaland expected to decrease’

Dimapur, September 3 (MExN): An advocacy programme on HIV/AIDS was held at Withee Bible College on August 29 where Legislators’ Forum on AIDS (LFA) state consultant Dr. Vinito L Chishi addressed students and faculties.


A release from the Principal Rev Dr Vikheshe Chishi informed that Dr Chishi spoke on the need to take serious steps to facilitate prevention of HIV/AIDS. He informed that as per the blood samples tested between April 2006 and May 2018, in Nagaland, only 24,490 out of 10,79,125 resulted positive for HIV. With this current scenario, he added that by 2020, HIV prevalence in Nagaland is expected to decrease. “This is a statement of hope, and to achieve this, it will be a dream come true for all,” he added.


Rev Dr Vikheshe Chishi, Founder and Principal, Withee Bible College stated that the churches, Bible colleges and Christian leaders share the platform to contribute towards achieving 0% AIDS by 2020. Hence, he pointed that it is an urgent call for them to take the initiative to educate the people about HIV/AIDS and with a joint effort of the public, the LFA, Nagaland will succeed even more efficiently, he added.


The programme was organized by the Legislators Forum on AIDS (LFA) financed by Nagaland Legislators in collaboration with Withee Bible College, Dimapur.
