Housing Minister assures to complete Naga Patients’ House in Dibrugarh

Minister for PWD, Housing & Mechanical, Government of Nagaland Tongpang Ozukum today said the building for the Naga Patient Guest House in Dibrugarh will be completed within a stipulated timeframe despite financial constraints. 

 


The Minister while unveiling the monolith during the foundation stone laying programme of Naga Patient Guest House, Dibrugarh, Assam added that “as soon as the tender process is completed, the contractor will start the work immediately.” As far as completion is anticipated, we might not complete in a year but it will be made sure that timely completion is meted out. 

 


Towards this, he said the Chief Minister has shown deep interest and concerns towards infrastructural development for which the present project has been listed out in this year's work plan further citing the responsibility of the department of housing, “to create asset and maintaining them.”

 


After laying the foundation stone, the minister underscored that the long-cherished dream and a sort of demand for the Naga people in Dibrugarh is becoming a reality through the ceremony. “It will go on without any stoppage,” he assured. 

 


Almost 50 years after existence, the house had served its purpose in any ways but also been under negligence for years, also reaching a point of almost losing ownership for misplacement of land patta describing it as an important asset of our people. It may be mentioned that the plot of the land measures 1 bigha and 11 Lissa. He also said Naga Community has been strict and vigil on securing the land and later thanked the district administration for the extension of cooperation. He hoped that the house will accommodate people as a house of healing and worship.

 


Advisor, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Dr. Neikesalie Kire while noting that the government does not expect constructions and development to take many years to complete, said the construction will complete within a year's time and see that the need of the people are fulfilled. 

 


The Advisor, who is also one of the oldest alumni of Naga Students’ in Dibrugarh said that Assam Medical College being one of the most referred hospital in the region in the past years many patients from Nagaland and Northeast came here. However, accessibility and convenience has shifted patients to their nearer cities. Once we have a proper patient's rest house, he hoped visitors will get restful and congenial shelter. Dr Nicky also called the students to be hospitable and open to help visitors which can also attract more people to come here. 

 


Deputy Development Commissioner, ACS, Dibrugarh Sanjay Dutta said that the district administration is ready to extend any help to the community and hoped to better relations and share solidarity with such extension. 

 


Rovilatuo Mor, IAS Commissioner & Secretary (W& H), Government of Nagaland chairing the programme and delivering the welcome note expressed elation on the leap of the government by laying the foundation stone which will be followed by construction and development. He further placed on placed on record the department's clearance of all necessary documents prominently acquiring of the misplaced land patta from the land owner who earlier kept photo copies of the same in his possession and land encroachment cases which were cleared in the court this year. He subsequently thanked the land owner in that regard.

 


Other speeches were delivered by Naga Students' Union Dibrugarh (NSUD) President and Naga Community Imtiwati Jamir. 

 


Earlier, dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Dr Bendangjungshi, Pastor, NCF Dibrugarh Assam and Er L Senti Jamir Chief Engineer PWD (Housing) gave the vote of thanks. Naga Students also presented songs.
