How clean is your Campus?

Now a ‘Swachh Campus’ ranking for higher educational institutions

 

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, through a notification, has sent a call for participation from all Colleges/ Universities/ Institutions in ‘Swachh Campus’ Ranking of Higher Educational Institutions.

 

According to a DIPR report, entries for ‘Swachh Campus’ ranking are open from August 9 to August 23 and ten best institutions will be selected on the basis of submission and subsequent inspection of the campuses. The institutions have to fill up a web based form onlineby logging in to MHRD website www.mhrd.gov.in.

 

The modalities and criteria of participation and judgement for ‘Swachh Campus’ are: Toilet adequacy and maintenance; Garbage clearance systems; Hostel purity, storage, distribution facility; Campus greenery and Rain water harvesting; Use of solar systems; and Village or neighbourhood adoption for hygiene.

 

“All submissions will need to be true and factual. This is an important activity which gives greater visibility to the institutions in terms of an essential aspect of campus,” the report said. PK Thakur, Secretary (offg) of University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed the participation of all the Universities and affiliated colleges in the ‘Swachh Campus.’
