HSLC topper receives Dr I Sentitemtsu Imsong Award

HSLC Examination 2018 Top 18 (A) Chubakatila Jamir received the Dr I Sentitemtsu Imsong Award for Academic Excellence at an award programme sponsored by Asangma Senso Bendanglen Alir Telongjem, held at Sangtemla Community Hall, Mokokchung on October18.  

The award was given away by T Lipok Jamir, Joint Director, Department of Education who was the special guest ay the award programme.    

The special guest in his address said academic excellence can be achieved only if we strive and search with a determination to achieve it. He said that being humble towards God, time management and hard work are the key ingredients of success.  

He also encouraged the students to be committed to whatever endeavour they embarked in their life. Earlier, the award recipient Chubakatila Jamir delivered her acceptance speech while K Toshi Lemtor Chairman, Award Trust Board said the key note address and S Temjen Chairman, Village Council Asangma delivered the exhortation. The presidents of the AKM, LKM, AST and ASBAT also spoke at the event.  

Dr I Sentitemtsu Imsong is considered as one of the most celebrated Scientist from Nagaland. He achieved Top 7 in HSLC 2001, Top 3 in HSSLC 2003, B.Sc. (Physic) Gold Medalist, Top 1 from Science College 2006 and completed his M. Sc. (Physic) from University of Hyderabad 2008.  

In the same year (2008) he went to Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore for Ph.D and finished his coursework in sort of a record 4 years at the age of 27. He won the Kumari L.A Meera Memorial Medal Award (Theoretical Physic)” for the best Ph.D thesis, “ Improvement of Hadronic form factors using Analyticity and Unitarity Constraints” in 2012 and President of India Medal for State topper in Physic Bs.Sc in 2006.  

He went to the University of Siegen, Germany 2013-14 and Ben Gurion University Israel (2014-15) for Post-Doctoral Studies. After coming back to India he became a Visiting Scientist at Mathematical Science, Chennia (2015) and thereafter selected as Assistant Professor in both IIT Guwahati and Hyderabad. He died at age 30at Columbia, Asia Hospital Bangalore in 2015 by “Severe Septic Shock.”
