Ibobi Singh hopes more ruling coalition leaders will join Congress

Newmai News Network Imphal | August 20   Former Chief Minister of Manipur, O Ibobi Singh expressed hope today that MLAs and leaders from the ruling coalition partners of the Manipur government will join the Congress soon.   Ibobi Singh was speaking at the ‘reception ceremony’ organized for former Minister N Mangi and two others for joining the Congress.   N Mangi from Kumbi assembly constituency left the BJP and joined the Congress party today. The other two who joined the Congress today are noted personalities of Manipur – Huidrom Bikramjit Singh and Sanglakpam Preshyojit Sharma.   N Mangi was a minister in various governments of Manipur as a CPI. He joined the BJP sometimes ago.   “This is just the beginning,” said elated Singh, adding, “Many MLAs and political leaders are ready to join the Congress party before upcoming Lok Sabha election”.  He viewed that at the moment it is not appropriate to reveal the names of those MLAs and leaders who are intimating the Congress about their inclination to join the latter party.   The ‘reception ceremony’ for the three new Congress members was held at Congress Bhawan in Imphal where TN Haokip, President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee ( MPPC ), Gaikhangam, former Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, former ministers, Lok Sabha MP Dr Th Meinya, MLAs, Congress leaders, workers and supporters participated.   Singh appreciated the three new entrants for choosing the Congress party instead of ruling BJP party. “They have joined us with the belief and hope that the Congress principles and ideology which are based on secularism and democracy can serve the people better,” the former CM stated.   Also speaking on the occasion, Gaikhangam appreciated Mangi’s stand to leave BJP party. “Mangi has come to realize BJP’s hidden policies and communal politics,” he said.   Also speaking on the occasion, N Mangi expressed regret in joining the BJP. He alleged that the BJP policies are totally against the people.
