Dimapur, November 19 (MExN): ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) Research Complex for NEH Region will be organizing the 24th Regional Committee Meeting for Zone- III (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim & Tripura) scheduled to be held at Assam Administrative Staff College, Assam om November 23 and 24 at Room No. 309 from 10:00 am.
In the meeting the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowala, Ministers for Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Rural Development, Secretaries and other officers from Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Rural Development departments will discuss on issues relating to agricultural research, education and extension and training needs of the states.
The purpose of the Regional Committee is to provide a forum to researchers and the State Government functionaries to examine the major gaps in the current research and training efforts in farming sector; identify priorities and decide agenda of research and extension education for the coming two years. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has set up eight Regional Committees on the basis of agro-climatic regions.
Over 150 delegates from the region, including the Ministers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries of the concerned States are expected to participate in the meeting.
