Dimapur, January 12 (MExN): The ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre celebrated its 43rd Foundation Day on January 11.
SK Dhumal, General Manager, NABARD Nagaland was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr. Abhijit Mitra, Director, ICAR-NRC on Mithun; Dr. Lallan Ram, Director, CIH; Johny G. Rengma, Public Leader; and Prof. AK Makar, Dean, SASRD (Nagaland University) were the guests of honour.
Dr. DJ Rajkhowa, Joint Director, ICAR Nagaland Centre, in his inaugural speech, highlighted the various activities undertaken and achievement of the centre in the last one year and also focused on the targets being set for the current year for the development of agriculture and allied sectors in the state.
The institute felicitated retired employees of the office and seven progressive farmers from Dimapur, Wokha, Kohima and Peren districts were given letter of appreciation in recognition of their excellent work in agriculture and allied sectors.
The Chief Guest in his speech applauded the initiatives taken by ICAR in the uplift of the socio-economic condition of the farmers. He also highlighted the role and developmental programmes being undertaken under NABARD and emphasised the importance of working in convergence.
To commemorate the event, the institute distributed various farm inputs to all the farmers who attended the programme.
