In a development that is expected to bring much respite to the needy in Mokokchung and neighbouring districts, a Special New Born Care Unit (SNCU) was inaugurated today at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) Mokokchung under National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), Nagaland. It was inaugurated by Dr. Limaaküm Jamir Mission Director, NUHM Nagaland.

The Mission Director while speaking at the inaugural function which was held at IMDH IDSP Conference Hall said that the Government of India through its NUHM projects has been providing numerous healthcare services and facilities. He also acknowledged Mokokchung for satisfactorily carrying out immunization exercises and hoped that the new SNCU would improve the much needed child healthcare sector.

Meanwhile, Reproductive & Child Health (RCH), SPO, Dr. Bendangla mentioned that the SNCUs have already been installed in Kohima and Dimapur and added that SNCUs would be added in the rest of the district hospitals too.

In a town that lacks behind in healthcare sector with not a single practising paediatrician, the installation of SNCU at IMDH also brings a sigh of relief to many parents as a paediatrician has also been posted at the SNCU.
