Immanuel College holds Inter-College Basketball Tournament

Dimapur, December 11 (MExN): Immanuel College organised an Inter College Basketball Tournament for both Men and Women on December 11 at the college campus.  

Altogether four colleges in Dimapur namely Unity College, SD Jain Girls College, St John College and Immanuel College took part in the tournament.  

With the championship trophy at stake, the tournaments saw intense competitions among the participanting teams.   In the Men's category, Unity College emerged as the Champions followed by Immanuel College as the runners-up.  

In the Women's category, the trophy was lifted by St. John College with S.D Jain Girls College as the runners- up.  

The winning colleges were awarded with a trophy, along with citations and along with a cash prize of Rs 10, 000 for and Rs 5000 the champions and runners-up respectively. Individual prizes include top scorer in for both man and women. In Men's category, the top scorer was Amento from Immanuel College while Kivitoli Ayemi from St. John College took the honour in Women's category.  

They were given certificate with a cash prize of Rs 1000 each. The tournament concluded with a photo session with the Champions and the runners up.   Earlier the tournament began with a short programme with William Kath, NPS Asst Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dimapur as special invitee.  

In his address, Kath encouraged the players to have the sportsmanship spirit, show good form, a will to win and show fairness, respect and a sense of fellowship with one's competitors.  

The programme was led by Serfudin Ali, Asst Prof Dept of Zoology, God's blessing was invoked by Temjen Longkumer Asst Prof Dept of Education.  

A brief introduction and welcome address was given by the college principal Sharatchandra Singh, followed by a kick off by the special invitee.
