IMPACT 5000 by 18 campaign in Tuensang

Tuensang, September 14 (MExN): A two-day programme on entrepreneurship, career awareness and livelihood opportunities was held for the youths of Tuensang under the YouthNet’s IMPACT 5000 by 18 campaign recently.  

A press release informed that the first day focused on entrepreneurs in Tuensang. About 70 business people attended the programme, where discussion was held on the various opportunities and challenges faced by business people in Tuensang district, especially in terms of market linkages, and how to build an eco-system for these businesses to prosper. The importance of bookkeeping and how accounts can be maintained was also shared by the resource person. During the discussion, a resolution was also made to strengthen the local business community.  

In the afternoon session, various skill development programmes such as tailoring, beautician, mobile phone repair and job openings in retail, automobiles were shared.  

The second day focused on school students. Various streams available for students in colleges and the importance of following one’s passion were highlighted. YouthNet also emphasized on the need for growth in private sector. The students also had a session about the opportunities in entrepreneurship. The schools covered were St. John Higher Secondary School, Government Higher Secondary School, Thangjam Government Higher Secondary School, Loyem Memorial School.

  Tuensang was the fifth district covered under the IMPACT 5000 by 18 campaign, which is a five-year joint programme of YouthNet and Government of Nagaland launched in 2013. For the 2016-2017 Impact campaign, Quest Alliance, Bangalore and Accenture’s Initiative- Skills to Succeed have partnered.  

The programme in Tuensang was supported by Local Entrepreneurs Association of Tuensang (LEAT).
