Mokokchung, March 1 (MExN): The import and sale of fish and other fish products in Mokokchung District has been banned with immediate effect in the interest of public health until further notice.
DC Mokokchung, Rajesh Soundararajan informed this in a release and added that samples of fish being sold in the district sent for testing to the office of the State Public Health Laboratory, Kohima were found positive of added formalin, contravening the Food Safety and Standard Regulations 2011 under section 9.1.
“Anyone violating the order shall be penalized as per the relevant sections of law,” it was further notified.
