India’ first home stay skill development prog launched

Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland allocated 25 and 175 seats respectively

  Dimapur, September 11 (MExN): YouthNet in partnership with NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation) and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh launched the country’s first home stay skill development programme under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) on September 11 in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.   This is a programme of skilling India under Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. The programme was inaugurated under the Patron of Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu. Chief guest of the programme, Jambey Tashi, Parliamentary Secretary of RWD and Skill Development and entrepreneurship, Arunachal Pradesh shared the importance of home stays role in building the economy of the state, specially towns like Tawang and Ziro where tourism has been growing each year.   A press release issued by the YouthNet informed that this pilot programme aims to train 25 women candidates in Tawang who are either running Homestays or want to start their own Homestay in near future. The training is followed up with setting up of Homestay for the participants and registration on various online portals.   The training program is for 50 days which will cover basic hospitality, how to set up and maintain a Homestay, marketing of their Homestay and customer service. A speech was shared by the NSDC Coordinator Nishta Vengurlekar who said they are focussed on such special projects for the North East.   Lezo Putsure, Director YouthNet said that under this special category project for this year, 25 seats have been allocated for Arunachal Pradesh and 175 seats have been allocated for Nagaland. The Nagaland home stay programmes are scheduled to being in October 2017. The idea is to be able to empower young people with employment opportunities and also increase tourism growth within the North East.   A press note informed that the programme is a part of YouthNet’s Young Leaders connect with Alder Tours and travels and Tribal Discovery as the local training partners.
