The administration has enhanced restriction of cross border movement at Moreh sector of Indo-Myanmar border with effect from Monday, as part of precautionary measures to check COVID-19 spread in Manipur.

Official reports said that besides totally preventing cross border movement at the unofficial entry points in areas along the Indo-Myanmar border, registration of entry of people from Myanmar side to India have started from Monday.

There are many unofficial entry points or porous areas at Manipur sector of the Indo-Myanmar border where people of both the countries are allowed to cross the border.

However, troops of Assam Rifles guarding the international border have sealed the cross border movement except at the two official gates (Gate No. 1 and 2) where cross border trades between the two countries are going on.

To check the cross border movement, the Assam Rifles authority has reportedly deployed additional troops to maintain vigil at the border with effect from Monday, the reports said.

The enhancement of border vigil along the Indo-Myanmar border came barely two days after Moreh Consumers' Club (MCC) had pressed the Manipur government to seal the border totally in the wake of the outbreak of COVID-19 which has become a global health issue.
