Integrated Export Development Project training held

DIMAPUR, JULY 22 (MExN): The Integrated Export Development Project sponsored by the Department of Horticulture and executed by North East Foundation began on July 14 at Development Association of Nagaland, Chekiye Village, Dimapur.  

The resource person for the training was Malayendu Mukherji, Flt. Lieutenant (retd.) and Expert on Import/ Export Business (Faculty, Delhi School of Business).  

According to a press release issued by the Horticulture Department, this training is the first of a kind in the State. The State has a lot of potential in terms of exporting various agro & horti based products beyond the borders.  

During the course of the training, the lack of infrastructure facilities to facilitate and promote this particular avenue was felt and discussed threadbare. The need to have a Customs Department to conduct customs valuation, in Dimapur Airport itself was also discussed, along with value addition training to farmers under the aegis of the State Government.  

Taking into account the need to support each other in this venture, the trainees decided to form an association called “Nagaland Importer and Exporter Association” and the house was convened to unanimously elect a seven member drafting committee to provide tentative guidelines and draft the constitution for prior approval by the house.  

The members include Ninoto Zhimomi ,Phangnon Konyak, Jongma Jamir, Elias Lotha, Kakugha Aye, Thungdemo Ovung and Meteisekho.  

The valedictory program was graced by Director Horticulture, Dr. R. Elithung Lotha who interacted with the trainees and expressed his hope that the trainees will now take this venture forward and put Nagaland on the international exporting market in the coming days.  

Thirty trainees attended the course and certificates of participation were awarded to them.
