Inter battalion debate contest on Human Rights

Dimapur, June 14 (MExN): An inter battalion debate competition was held on Human Rights at ARTC&S, Shokhuvi on June 10. Teams from No. 1 Training Battalion, No. 2 Training Battalion, No. 3 Training Battalion, and Diphu garrison of ARTC&S debated on the topic, “Protection of Human Rights: Is it not the duty of security forces?”   Brig Gurjap Singh, Commandant of ARTC&S was the chief guest on the occasion, where a total of 16 speakers debated on the topic in Hindi and English ‘For’ and ‘Against’ the motion. The main aim of the debate, according to a press release, was to sensitize the troops about Human Rights and importance of their strict observance while dealing with the public and also to select a team for AR Inter Sector Debate Competition scheduled for June 24-25, 2016.   In the Hindi category, Rifleman Umesh Kumar Yadav and Rifleman Balwan Singh of No. 2 Training Battalion were adjudged the best speakers ‘For’ and ‘Against’ the motion respectively, whereas Recruit Vishavajit Parida of No. 3 Training Battalion and Recruit Sandip Kumar of No. 1 Training Battalion were declared the runners up.

  In English, Recruit Mantosh Kumar of No. 3 Traning Battalion and Rifleman R Swer of No. 1 Training Battalion were adjudged the best speakers ‘For’ and ‘Against’ the motion respectively, while Recruit Lipi H Sangtam of No. 2 Training Battalion and Recruit S Roshlin Kumar Singh of No. 3 Training Battalion were declared the runners up.   The team of No. 2 Training Battalion was adjudged the best team and awarded the championship trophy by the chief guest.
