International Women’s Day celebrated

Dimapur/Kohima, March 10 (MExN): The Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) observed International Women’s Day in collaboration with Assisi Centre for Integrated Development (ACID) cum NDWM with the theme ‘Time is now: Rural and urban activists transforming women's lives’ on March 10 at Assisi auditorium, Lake View Colony in Dimapur.  

Ajongba Imchen, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary DDLSA, who was the chief guest, emphasized that the need of the hour was to speak up and to safeguard and uphold women’s rights, informed a press release from DDLSA.   Meanwhile, Panel Lawyer Sentimenla, the resource person, delivered a PowerPoint presentation on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005.  

Among the guests included two officials from Germany, Rev. Fr. CP Anto, Director, Peace Channel, Sr. Parmila Lobo, Director, ACID and Panel Lawyers from DDLSA, the release added.  

Kohima Law College

Kohima Law College meanwhile celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8. Kezhokhoto Savi, Professor-in-Charge for BCI Practical & Training presented the keynote address on the theme – ‘Time is now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives.’ Assistant Professor Tongpok Pongener, Assistant Professor Limanochet Jamir and one male student from each semester spoke on the occasion acknowledging women's contribution towards nation building and also stressing on the genuine concern of gender parity. The entire programme was initiated by the men of the college, who also felicitated every female student, teaching and non-teaching faculty on the day, a press release received here stated.
