INTUC for revival of Tuli paper mill

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 16 (MExN): The India National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) Nagaland State Branch has written a representation to the Chairman cum Managing Director of the Hindustan Paper Corporation (HPC) Ltd seeking “sympathetic protection” for workers of the NPPC Ltd Paper Mill in Tuli.

The INTUC, Nagaland Branch acknowledged the contribution made by the Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited in the establishment of a Paper Mill at Tuli as a joint venture with the Government of Nagaland as Nagaland Pulp & paper Company Limited.

It informed that the INTUC Nagaland State Branch has visited the Tuli NPPC Ltd. Paper Mill several times and had close interaction with the workers union of the NPPC Ltd. The INTUC said it was disheartening to find that the conditions of the workers “are worsening day by day, who have no other means to earn for the livelihood of their families.”

It therefore asked the HPC Ltd to set in motion the revival plan of the present defunct NPPC Ltd. Paper Mill at Tuli at the earliest possible time. It meanwhile assured that the INTUC Nagaland State Branch would venture to highlight the commitment of the HPC.
