Simultaneous with the live nationwide launch of the India Post payment Bank (IPPB) in New Delhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday afternoon, the Dimapur branch of Postal Services also launched IPPB.
Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Sushil Kumar, who launched the Dimapur branch IPPB here at Hotel Lake Shilloi, in his address said the IPPB would prove to be a boon, especially to the rural people who do not have easy access to banking facilities.
The DC said in a state like Nagaland where the concept of savings is yet to catch up with majority of the rural people, the doorstep banking services provided by IPPB would save expenses of rural people, who otherwise have to travel quite some distance to reach the nearest bank.
Underscoring the importance of savings, he said in many states, government employees get their monthly salary even after two-three months delay. Patel said if a government employee has served for more than 10 years, than delay in salary should not be a problem as the employee can pull through with his or her savings.
The DC also released the special cover on ‘Financial inclusion and launch of IPPB Dimapur branch’ and also distributed QR cards to account holders
Inspector of Post Offices, Dimapur Branch, A Akha-a Agnes, in her speech said, “At this very moment 650 branches and 3250 Access Points are simultaneously being launched all over the country, out of which 9 Branches and 36Access Points are here in our State.”
