JAC demands resignation of five MLAs

Aizawl, April 23 (NNN):  Champhai Joint Action Committee (CJAC), a conglomeration of all NGOs and all political parties of Champhai town situated in the Mizoram-Myanmar border demanded the resignation of five MLAs elected from Champhai district in the wake of the  shortage of doctors at Champhai District Hospital.   Mizoram’s eastern district Champhai is still tense following the protest over shortage of doctors at Champhai District Hospital carried out by the influential student body, the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) that turned to violent last week leading to torching of five vehicles including 4 government vehicles and a private car at Champhai’s DC campus.   The JAC has demanded that the five legislators hailing from the Congress party namely education minister H. Rohluna, parliamentary secretary TT Zothansanga, JH Rothuama, former health minister Lalrinliana Sailo and T. Sangkunga should resign as MLAs for failing to raise their voice and paying indifference to the problems faced by the people of Champhai over shortage of doctors.Meanwhile, Champhai district headquarter of the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) or Mizo Students Federation that sponsored the agitation said it strongly appreciated the initiative taken by the JAC that received involvement of many people in the agitation demanding the posting of more doctors at the district hospital.
