Jamir accused of involvement in electioneering

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 14 (MExN): Governor of Odhisa, Dr SC Jamir has been accused of openly partaking in campaigning for a certain candidate and political party for the forthcoming Nagaland Legislative Assembly general election.

The allegation was made by N Bendang Jamir, president, Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Mokokchung Region in a complaint letter addressed to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Nagaland.

“…Governor of Odhisa is stationed at Mokokchung and openly involved in state politics in the ensuing election in Nagaland in favour of certain candidate and political party by inducing and luring the voters which is unbecoming of a person holding gubernatorial post,” the complaint letter stated.

The letter said unless his unconstitutional acts are stopped immediately the post of constitutional head of the state shall become a mockery. “It is therefore requested that he be reprimanded from involvement in state electioneering and issue appropriate direction as deemed fit for conduct of peaceful election in the state,” the NDPP complaint letter has demanded.
